In this project we focused on accurately measuring dimensions and capturing the
terroir of a chosen building from Great Western Road. PORT
I produced a plan, section and elevation that portrayed the shop Roots, Fruits and
Flowers. In my drawing I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the café, with the
clinking of plates and squeaking of chairs on the tiled floor. To give a sense of this
dynamism, I drew the chairs all at strange angles to give the impression of
customers that had just left. I particularly enjoyed capturing the essence of their
deli counter, which is a vital part of the experience. In contrast to the café, the
pavement is crooked, although the building is in well-kept condition.
To improve, I think this drawing would benefit from some subtle shading and
inhabitation.
Lovely drawing Maeve.
